Kim’s Teriyaki

Today’s new place was Kim’s Teriyaki on 6th Avenue and Sprague. This is my first checkin at Kim’s though it is a restaurant I’ve been to before. Usually we get take out. The employee’s (owners?) are always very pleasant and service is quick, making it the perfect New Place of the Day for the last day in August 8/31/10.
Update 1/11 – this entire strip center has been gutted, taken down to the concrete.  I don’t know its future.
Update 7/11 – A Walgreens is being constructed there.

Every new place can’t be exciting and today’s (8/30/10) was pretty standard. I went to the UPS Store on S. 38th to return a malfunctioning item to Amazon.Com and to send off a birthday present. My timing was lucky for once because there was no line, but when I left the line was six people deep with only one employee working the counter.

On Sunday 8/29/10 I went to Quaker Meeting (Tacoma Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends). Certainly not my first time here, but my first FourSquare Checkin. I even had to make the FourSquare place!  This building is straight up the hill from Borders Books, near the Tacoma Mall.  Visitors are welcome.  The local link is http://tacoma.quaker.org/ and general information can be found at http://www.quakerinfo.org/

The new place for 8/28/10 is a building that I have be wondered about for a long time, the City Association of Colored Women’s Club Clubhouse. I was delighted to attend a tea celebrating Senator Rosa Franklin’s contributions and to mark Women’s Political Equality. The event was sponsored Women of Vision, NOW, City Association of Colored Women’s Clubs and the Tacoma Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).  The link for Tacoma AAUW is http://www.aauw-tacoma.org/.

Sorry about the quality of the outside photo! The afternoon sun and topography worked against me!
