The Arby’s at 2612 South 38th Street in Tacoma has the traditional, original Arby’s sign which is shaped like a cowboy hat and says “Arby’s Roast Beef Sandwich is Delicious”. This sign was used between 1964 and 1975 and the logo changed to a more streamlined sign. Abry’s began selling roast beef sandwiches in Ohio in 1964 and there are currently over 3,000 restaurants.
And with that I am caught up with the blog 🙂
Hopefully you sat in the curved glass sunroom while you were there… those are currently being eradicated at all Arby’s due to high maintenance costs/lack of maintenance. The sunroom areas are being replaced with flat windows and an eating bar. It won’t be quite the same with the building losing some of it’s character.
On a side note, there’s a piece of plywood mounted to the building near the west entrance to the restaurant. Believe it or not, that’s where the car drove into the building some weeks ago. No one was hurt.
Oh, now isn’t that interesting! I’m going to go back and look for that wood and pay special attention to the sunroom. Thanks!
