There is a huge tower at 948 S. Grant, Tacoma. It is FCC
registered. I’d like to say something about it, but I have
nothing 🙂
Yesterday’s new place of the day was the Air Traffic Control Tower at SeaTac Airport. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says “Air traffic controllers earn relatively high pay and have good benefits. Median annual wages of air traffic controllers in May 2008 were $111,870”. Wow. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos108.htm
It isn’t the best photo that I’ve taken, in fact I made my daughter take it as the car was moving!
I’ve gone past the Del Norte Hill Antenna Site at 1423 S. Grant, Tacoma, plenty of times and have on occasion wondered what it was. Apparently a traditional residence at one point, the property is now devoted to an FCC registered, 39.6 meter (130 feet) antenna structure. The total height is 42.7 meters (140 feet). The sign on the building states that tower space is available.

Today I ventured into the Port of Tacoma to the Tacoma Fire Department Training facility. This is a photo of their training tower.
