My friend and I share the same birthday (which was in May, we are running late!) and we decided to treat ourselves at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in Jame’s Center 1816 South Mildred Street, Tacoma. There are 14 flavors and plenty of toppings. Their Facebook Page is here.
What is interesting to me is that the South Hill Menchie was my new place in April 2012. At that time they had 170 locations and now they have 237. In April 2012 Washington State had seven locations and now they have 19 with three more in the works.
Coldstone Creamery at 2601 N. Pearl Street is one of those rare treats, but we had a great coupon and off we went. It was about 9:30 at night and they still had a pretty good business. Mostly couples, young and old. Dear daughter and I each got a small (called a ‘like it’). Mine was cheesecake (320 calories) with white chocolate chips and hers was birthday cake with sprinkles.
Coldstone’s website states that with their ice creams and mix-ins, they can create over 11 million creations! The first Coldstone opened in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona.
About once a year or so, dear daughter and I stop at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts by the Tacoma Mall. I remember when Krispy Kreme came to Washington State. I dragged my dear husband up to Issaquah to check them out! We must have stood in line for almost an hour, but it was like a party with everybody happy and visiting. Of course, it didn’t hurt that they handed out warm, fresh doughnuts to everybody in line! Now that there are 8 locations in Washington State the novelty has gone away.
This afternoon when we stopped at our local Kripy Kreme, there were only two other customers in line, a father and his wide eyed son. But the doughnuts are still good and I look forward to next year when we go again!
