Today I stopped at the Forza at 10240 Bridgeport Way in Lakewood. There are 21 Forza Coffee Company locations in the Puget Sound area, which is interesting since there were 23 locations in February 2011 when I used the Forza at 1202 South Union as my new place of the day. Wonder what happened to the other two locations.
Anyway, this is an especially nice place to have coffee. It has a freestanding fireplace and plenty of comfy chairs.

Cartridge World at 6020 Main Street SW, Lakewood sells….cartridges! I bet you could have figured it out. It is a fairly large chain and perhaps a franchise since their by line is locally owned and operated.
Lakewood Transit Center has this dramatic piece of public art known as Transpire by Mark Calderon. The website for the center http://projects.soundtransit.org/Projects-Home/STart-Public-Art-Program/Public-Art-Projects/Lakewood-Station.xml states the following:
Three intertwining spires create a radiant and elegant design inspired by the early history of settlement in the Lakewood area. Speaking of his inspiration, artist Mark Calderon said, “To me [the campfire] represents the center for food, warmth and community – in a way, the hub of the settler’s existence. I want my sculpture to be attractive in the same way—a place that is comfortable and enlivening where people may gather and where community forms.”
The AMC Loews Lakewood Town Center 12 has the most comfortable theater seats ever! The theater had been around when the Lakewood Mall was in place and over the past 12 months or so they have been replacing their traditional seating and putting in these oversized and very comfy chairs. The best part is that with the push of a button the seat turns into a recliner! Dear husband and I claimed our own adjoining chairs, but I noticed other couples and parent/child combinations sharing 😀

Ray Bradbury is my favorite author and Something Wicked This Way Comes is my favorite book by him, so I absolutely had to go see this play! My dear daughter rolled her eyes at me and said she didn’t like plays, but she’d go and my husband also joined us. All of us loved it! It was true to the book and creepy (perfect for October) and had great effects and acting. Afterwards my daughter revised her opinion to she doesn’t like musicals (we’ll work on that!). Of course my favorite part is that the adult hero is a librarian! Though it did bother me that he was considered old at 54! That’s a little too close for comfort!
The play was at the Lakewood Playhouse at 5729 Lakewood Towne Center Blvd. Lakewood, WA 98499. It is a small theater with enthusiastic volunteers and a nice seating arrangement. http://www.lakewoodplayhouse.org/
Monday was Bookclub night and I found myself with not enough time to eat dinner (back planning on my part), but still wanting a little something. So I stopped at the 7-11 at 10649 108th Avenue Southwest, Lakewood, WA. It looked like all of the other 7-11s I had ever been in and I thought it was slightly more interesting to take the photo through my car window.
So, dear husband and I are driving down South Tacoma Way on our way to see Captain America (which was really pretty good). I’m thinking about what I am going to use for a new place of the day. I’ve already done the movie theater and the fish taco place, so no go with our destinations. Then I look up and see Mamni’s Bakery at 9205 S Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA 98499! Oh joy, I’ve been meaning to go there since my friend recommended it! We loopy looped around and went on in!
I can’t say I’ve been to a bakery like this before. Every individual item is wrapped. We purchased about 10 things and took them home to enjoy after the movie. After we got home dear daughter started asking what things were. Ummmm. Don’t know! They aren’t labeled! Though we can kind of tell by looking at them 🙂 The treat for tonight was very tasty indeed.
Now that we know where they are, we’re sure to be back!
I haven’t been to a midnight movie since Rocky Horror Picture many years ago. But I went to the Lakewood 15 to and took several awful photos. The movie was, of course, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows and it was terrific. All of the theaters were devoted to the one movie and the place was rockin with most of the movie goers dressed up.

This morning we were looking for a place to eat breakfast. We didn’t want to take the time and spend the money for a nice, sit down restaurant, I didn’t want fast food and dear husband didn’t want Starbucks or donuts. And then we had a brain storm! Cascade Bagel at 6115 Motor Avenue in Lakewood. We each got a toasted sesame seed bagel with cream cheese, his plain and mine garlic. They were delicious with a cup of coffee. While we were there, we also picked up a couple of bags of day old bagels. My only regret is that I didn’t ask for a tour of the cooking area, which apparently they will happily do for customers. Oh well, next time!
Today the family went to see the movie, Super 8, which we all enjoyed…way more than I expected. Anyway, there is a water tower featured in the movie, so tonight I stopped to consider the City of Lakewood Water Tower. I thought it looked nice with the blue tower against the blue sky. The tower is located on Bridgeport Road near the Lakewood Town Center.
