Did you know this Regal theater was there?!

8463249045_37d54b24bf_bUntil today, I hadn’t realized this six theater Regal Cinema existed. The Regal South Hill Cinema 6 is located at 3500 South Meridian, Puyallup, WA.  More importantly it is located in the back of the mall, behind Target, so it is easy to miss. It was the only theater playing The Impossible, a striking movie about a family of five’s experience during the 2004 Thailand Tsunami.

JC Penneys, Tacoma Mall

8316724954_d2e45abab5_oDear daughter needed some professional clothing and I searched my brain on where to go. Finally I remembered how pleased I was that JC Penney made Ellen DeGeneres their spokes person and then stood by her when the One Million Moms group started complaining about her being gay. So, good job, JC Penney, you have our teeny tiny bit of disposable income. We went to the JC Penney at the Tacoma Mall. They had a good selection, a righteous after the holiday sale and pleasant and efficient sale people.

Dear daughter say that their mannequins  are too tiny and don’t reflect real women. But I think they are a pretty standard size for clothing stores in the US.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/Default.aspx?type=default Dear daughter was in a concert tonight and we needed a fast place to have dinner. The Chipotle Mexican Grill at the Tacoma Mall (exterior entrance between Panaras and Sears) was fast and tasty and felt fairly healthy.

I had an appointment at the mall and took a minute to wander into Nordstroms at the Tacoma Mall to look at boots.  I learned the 10 Top Fall 2011 Fashion Trends, which are:

  • Capes & Ponchoes
  • The Heritage Jacket
  • Stacked Heels
  • Midi Length
  • Chocolate Metals
  • Bow Blouse
  • The Skinny
  • Bold Color Mixes
  • Leather Sportswear
  • Faux Fur

Bank of America, doing the right thing?

I’ve been hearing that Bank of America isn’t paying its fair share (any?!) of taxes. I don’t know the truth of the story, but across the country there are demonstrations to protest BOA’s tax paying practices. I’ll be listening for more information. In the meantime, today’s new place is the Bank of America near the Tacoma Mall.

A Third Place, The Library Connection

I was delighted to find a well used public library at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue today. Everything about the library clicked for me. The good things include the location in a busy enclosed shopping, the hours (Sunday!), the colorful, art filled decor, the materials selection (lots of foreign language books and books for the kids) and plenty of computers.

It’s worth noting that there is also a King County Library Connection at the South Center Mall and that many of the other free standing, more traditional libraries are open on Sunday.

This much used library branch made me think about the importance of having community space. Ray Oldenburg discussed this need for community area, which he called Third Places in his book The Great Good Place.
