Memos Mexican Food Restaurant

13004390175_47d9edb932_hMemos Mexican Food Restaurant at 1703 6th Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405 is the newest Memos location. Previously it had been It’s Great to Me and they have moved across the street. Dear husband and I shared a fish taco and a Washington Burrito (steak, cheese, salsa and potato). It was more food than we could eat and really tasty. With a churro dessert, the bill came to just over $10. Their menu is here.

Sunflowers at Azteca

10752541343_3a4c5d30ad_hAzteca is a chain of Mexican Food restaurants that are located in Washington (26), Oregon (2) and Florida (5). Really, The Tacoma Azteca is located at 4801 Tacoma Mall Boulevard.  I would have taken a better photo of it, but it was crowded with folks starting their three day weekend.

The Xipe Totec and Sun Mask-Kwakiutl Masks by Doug Granum are located on the exterior wall of the Rialto Theater in Tacoma.

The Xipe Totec Mask is from the Mexican culture and represents the god of spring and growing seed.  The Sun Mask image is from the Native American-Kwakiuti culture from Vancouver Island.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/Default.aspx?type=default Dear daughter was in a concert tonight and we needed a fast place to have dinner. The Chipotle Mexican Grill at the Tacoma Mall (exterior entrance between Panaras and Sears) was fast and tasty and felt fairly healthy.

I love Chevys (there is no apostrophe!) for their fresh chips and salsa. Yum. I’ve not been to another Chevys, but I see on their website that they have restaurants in 14 states, with 2 in Washington. They have been here for over ten years.

A lackluster meal at La Palma

I was going to go out to Snake Lake today to catch some autumn leaves, but it started to pour.   So instead I went out to lunch with dear husband. We have one of those Entertainment Coupon books and it’s expiring on 11/1, so I thought we’d use it. I riffled the pages and stuck my finger on La Palma. The interior is fairly standard Mexican Restaurant; there must be a warehouse of that stuff somewhere! The food was also very standard. I ate 1/2 of mine and boxed up the rest. Dear husband had a little more than 1/2 of his, but it made him sick! Not food poisoning sick, but too greasy sick. He’ll be fine, but I won’t be able to get him back there!  The service is the only thing that was exceptional about the experience.

I probably should have read the Yelp reviews before visiting!  http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-palma-family-mexican-restaurant-and-lounge-lakewood
