WooHoo! The blog is loading photos again without a struggle. To celebrate, here is a lovely shot through my windshield (I’m not proud) of a double rainbow.
I wandered out on this rainy, rainy night to take a photo of Tacoma’s McDonald’s at 802 Tacoma Avenue South, which has a hanging Dale Chihuly glass art piece. I’m not finding much information about this piece and the restaurant was busy enough that I didn’t want to bother the servers.
Dale Chihuly is a Tacoma native and I have seen him about town at art functions on occasion. He was born here in 1941 and attended Wilson High School and the University of Washington. His website can be found here http://www.chihuly.com/
Update: It ends up its not Chihuly art! Just very similar looking.
The McDonald’s at 7217 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98408 has a duel entrance for their drive through. I assume that it helps the traffic flow and allows for even more customers. This location was the site of Tacoma’s second McDonald’s, built in 1963 and remodeled in 1977. I remember in 2005 they demolished the building and built the current structure which is larger, has more features and has the before mentioned double drive through.

According to Wikipedia, McDonald’s is “the world’s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 64 million customers daily in 119 countries”. Today I stopped to snap a photo of the McDonald’s at 2203 North Pearl in Tacoma. We didn’t actually go inside, but admired the almost art like display created by the Big Toy.
