Yeti Yogurt is in the space previously occupied by Coldstone Creamery, next to Round Table Pizza at 2601 North Pearl Street, Suite 2601B, Tacoma WA. Dear husband and I stopped in after we did Tacoma’s Art Mingle and really enjoyed it. Dear husband especially liked that the lighted panel over the yogurt dispensers changed colors. Their website is here and their facebook page is here.

Red Hot

9737094663_c46aac4bd8_bRed Hot at 2914 Sixth Avenue, Tacoma is relatively small bar that specialized in locally crafted beer and hot dogs. I had the 6th Ave Strut which is a hot dog with cream cheese, fresh chopped onions, tomatoes. It was delicious! Really, good food and company, it was a great way to start the weekend!

Quickest Adventure Ever

9701944641_1edd8b3ff4_cSo the other day when I was near Baltimore Park, I went past this wooded lot between a new house and a vacant lot available for sale. I was intrigued. Was it a little park? A pathway? To be honest it seemed like a bad idea to go explore it by my lonesome, so I drove away. But today I was in the general area with dear husband and I talked him into going with me. It was a steep little trail down, but I made it and it was pretty except the trash (only two pieces), There was a culvert for draining water. I walked on about five feet, really no more, and found this

9705181344_eac1e40ca4_cWell, OK. That was fun. I climbed back up (dear husband had sensibly waited at the top). We did get to see some deer, two does, a fawn and a shy buck, so that was cool.

Point Defiance Ruston Senior Center Community Garden

9695554301_a9906875f1_zPoint Defiance Ruston Senior Center at 4716 N. Baltimore St., Tacoma has a community garden that I went to visit today as part of the 2013 Community Garden Harvest Tour. Actually I got a late start, so it was the only garden I got to. Guess that makes it the best! Really it was a very nice smaller garden. I was looking at it through the fence and somebody who works at the center came out to open up the gate for me. The garden, which had both vegetables and flowers, is part of the Master Gardener Program sponsored by Washington State University, Pierce County Extension.

The Hug Farm – Grow Food

9666322457_d4c3e90cedDriving around Tacoma I found The Farm by Hug, which I of course read as the Hug Farm. I loved the idea of growing hugs! And the actuality of the garden was almost as good. It is a community garden sponsored by the Hilltop Urban Gardens. Their mission is “to develop systems for food sovereignty and create racial and economic justice”.
