Point Ruston has a new Cafe, the Jewel Box Cafe. It is obvious they put a great deal of thought into their darling decor and there are some lovely details. There is a old-fashioned case to display their pastries and a functioning fireplace that is both indoor and outdoor, opulent velvet seating and several enclose private booths. I had the berry crepe and my dear husband had the cinnamon bun and they were both delicious. 
Every time I visit dear daughter at WSU, I pop across state lines to visit Downtown Moscow, home of the University of Idaho’s Vandels. It really is a charming downtown with a selection of restaurants and shops. I love the bookstore, Book People of Moscow, and Cafe Artista. This time I also tried Moscow Bagel and Deli and it was yum. The Moscow Downtown Historic District includes 60 buildings and was placed on the National Historic Register in 2005.
Catching up from the Texas trip
There is some debate on the fate of John Wilks Booth. Most say he was killed by Federal soldiers who had tracked him down at the Garrett Farm.
But the more interesting theory is that the wrong man was killed at Garrett Farm, Booth escaped to Granbury, TX, changed his name to John St. Helen and tended bar in what is now the Nutshell Cafe. While extremely sick, St. Helen made a death bed confession, but then he recovered. Since his story was then out there, he needed to leave town. He went to Enid, Oklahoma where he committed suicide. A book, Escape and Suicide of John Wilkes Booth by Finis Bates, was written about this (that part is for sure true). Bates later gained control of St. Helen/Booth’s body and exhibited in carnival sideshows.
So, that explains where there is a mural featuring John Wilks Booth next to his wanted poster and near a picture of Lincoln. The mural also features the Lady in Red, who was suppose to be the love of Booth’s life. And on the other wall is Davy Crockett. The Nutshell Cafe is reportedly haunted by the Lady in Red with her boyfriend, Booth, supposedly haunts the adjacent Granbury Opera House.
On a lighter note, I found the coffee to be good at the Nutshell Cafe and would be glad to go back to try the ice cream.
Paradise Bistro & Coffee opened on the Granbury Square in 2012, I stopped by for some relief from the heat and an iced coffee and slice of lemon cake. It was really a treat and I happily spent some time there reading my book. On the way out, I was given a ‘to go’ cup with ice water. They do understand that dehydration is a problem here in Texas! The window looking into the space clearly reflects the historic Hood County Courthouse which was constructed in 1890. The courthouse is the focal point of the Granbury Square.
The business is located in the two story masonry Harris Building, which was constructed in 1899 by local stonemason, I. W. Walley. It was originally occupied by a furniture store, It has a cast iron storefront.
Drive to visit dear daughter, I stopped for lunch in Ellensburg and used Yelp to discover the Yellow Church Cafe at 111 South Pearl. Prior to being a cafe, the building was actually the Good Hope Lutheran Church for 40 years (sold in 1967) and there were several other uses. The Yellow House Cafe began in 1997 and the current owner took over in 2014. Beside the welcoming setting, the main star of the meal was the homemade bread of my BLT sandwich.

Storiebook Cafe in Glen Rose, TX is a delightful combination of two of my favorite things, food and books. Mom and I went for lunch, a cub of soup & a turkey/avocado wrap for me and a Reubin & soup for her. Both were really good. We shared the blueberry cobbler for dessert.
Pam’s Coffee Shop at 204 South Morgan Street in Granbury serves a terrific and filling breakfast. I was lucky enough to eat there today with my mom and a dear friend (adopted niece).
It’s been three years since I’ve started this new place of the day project and as last year I wanted to pick an extra nice new place. The first anniversary I picked the Pagoda in the Chinese Reconciliation Park and last year I picked the Legislative Building in Olympia. This year dear husband and I went to Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse. Now I know that another coffeehouse doesn’t seem all to impressive, but this is my all time favorite coffeehouse. It was comfy seats, great coffee and food, an upbeat staff and a tremendous view. I ordered my iced Americano and happily sat in a comfy stuff chair facing the window. Life was good.
Looking back at the third year of this project, I have some new observations:

Update April 2016: Happily the coffeehouse is still doing well and I managed to snag the same chair as before!

Lunch today with some of my favorite people at 208 Garfield,which sensably enough is located at 208 Garfield Street South, Tacoma, WA near PLU. The restaurant really has a great menu. I had a delicious grilled cheese with grilled red onions and a small side salad for only $4! I also had a filter dripped coffee for $2.
I go to Molbak’s at 13625 NE 175th St., Woodinville, WA 98072 whenever I’m in Woodinville, which isn’t all that often. It is one of the largest nurseries in the Puget Sound with indoor and outdoor areas, gifts and a cafe.
