Tacos Guaymas Family Mexican Food

I didn’t realize that Tacos Guaymas Family Mexican Food at 2630 South 38th Street, Tacoma was a chain of ten and I also didn’t realize that it had a drive through. What I did know is that they have really good food that is reasonably priced and plentiful. Dear daughter and I went through the take out lane and purchased dinner (a bean & cheese burrito for her and tortilla soup for me).

The website for the restaurant can be found here

Lively Market, Tacoma

We wandered over to the Pacific Avenue Street Fair today, but got there too late to see all of the cool old cars. But dear daughter declared that she had to have a Popsicle! Lively Market at 4505 Pacific Avenue had a fairly nice selection of Popsicles including Rice Pudding which I got, but didn’t eat yet. Dear daughter got one of those rocket, multicolored frozen treats. Lively Market was been a neighborhood market (most likely) since it was built in 1923.

My World Childcare

My World Childcare at 5915 Orchard Street is closed, but their wonderful mural remains! I didn’t find much about the business except that their motto was “Helping your child discover their world”. But really the story here is the vivid mural featuring children playing, reading and working. I hope whoever leases the building next appreciates the artwork and lets it remain.

For the Birds

My husband in particular admires these lovely bird houses that are for sale in front of the house at 4613 Sixth Avenue. They are pretty spectacular and available for purchase by calling 253 226 0086.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes (Hallmark)

So I stopped at McBride’s Hallmark at 3822 Bridgeport Way, University Place today to buy a father’s day card and took these two photos. I planned to go inside and take lots of interesting photos, but I was overwhelmed with interesting cards and forgot! What can I say? Hallmark’s website is here http://www.hallmark.com/online/

A Mostly Vacant Lot

I’ve been meaning to stop and snap a photo of the mostly vacant lot in the 2100 block of Pacific Avenue. Today was the day. I put my lens through the chain link fence and snapped away. While writing this up, I thought I’d find some interesting story, but no, not really. Obviously there had been a building, most likely a house, there at one point and the current owners are both protecting their property and potential liability by fencing off the remains. But that’s about all I have. I’d also like to know more about the Bugeye ftb graffiti. I can find other references to Bugeye, but not the origin. Odd.

The Bike Rack Near City Hall

We were walking back from a performance at Urban Grace Church when I noticed this good looking covered bike rack near City Hall. At first glance I thought it was a bus stop, but no. Apparently the city as installed 96 of these bike racks and in May was named a Bicycle Friendly Community. That’s cool. To read more about it, go to http://www.cityoftacoma.org/Page.aspx?hid=18226

Siam Thai Restaurant

Today we went to celebrate my daughter’s dear friend’s graduation at the Tacoma Dome and then we all went out to the Siam Thai Cuisine Restaurant at 1629 Eastlake Boulevard, Seattle, WA 98102. I loved the decor which is sleek and modern.  The food was really good too and the server was very attentive and quick. Adding the excellent company to that, made it an altogether a good experience.

Lovely Flowers at Glacier View Jr. High

The family had a meeting at Glacier View Jr. High School in the South Hill area of Puyallup today and I had to take some photos of the lovely metal flower sculpture! The website for the school is here http://schools.puyallup.k12.wa.us/junior/glacierview/index.htm The school’s mascot is a Yati.

The Ugly Bean

The Ugly Bean at 919 North 2nd Street in the Stadium District is fun. The drive through window guy had a big smile and my iced Americano was really very good.  I was a tad worried about going through the drive through since it looked like the exit was at a weird angle, but it really was no problem. After reading their Yelp review there are a couple of things I’d like to go back and try.
