Savor Creperie at 1916 Pacific Avenue in Tacoma opened in April 2013. I had some time before my book group meeting (we read The World’s Strongest Librarian) and needed dinner. I’ve been wanting to stop at Savor for sometime and there was an unusual amount of available parking in Tacoma’s museum district. I had the Maple Roasted Butternut Squash, Stilton Cheese, Candied Hazelnuts, Fresh Thyme Crepe and it was amazing. And the service was flawless. They also have glutten free rice flour crepes. Next time I go, I’m going to try a sweet crepe. I loved the hanging artwork of photos of local landmarks. Their website is here.

Red Horse Diner, Ellensburg, WA
We stopped at the Red Horse Diner because of it is a 50s style diner, but we loved it for its food! Dear daughter and I stopped for a meal here on the way to dropping her off at college and I stopped on my way back alone. It had been a service station and maintains the original pumps, as well as a bunch of fun 50s signs and paraphernalia. The Pegasus, the red horse, has been the symbol of Mobil Oil since the 1930s. The website for the diner is here.
Boathouse 19 Bar & Grill
A while back a friend suggested that I stop at Boathouse 19 Bar and Grill at 9001 South 19th Street, Tacoma for a root beer float. Dear daughter and I had spent Saturday afternoon checking out the University Place Garden Tours Gardens and actually met a long time Flickr friend by fortuitous accident. I offered to take dear daughter out for the float and of course once we got there and smelled all the good food we ended up having lunch. We shared the Pike Place Fish Fry (fish & chips) and each got dessert and it was wonderful. Though ironically we never did get the root beer floats! It was very wonderful to set on the deck, visiting, eating good good and enjoying the water & Narrows Bridge View. Their website is here.
Carmine’s Italian Restaurant
On Friday night I found myself in Kennewick looking for a restaurant. My friend and I opted for Carmines at 525 West 1st Avenue. It appealed to us because of its unusual presentation, an Italian restaurant in an old house that offers one or two dishes a night. The mission of the restaurant is to recreate the family environment that the owners experienced with they lived in New Jersey and were surrounded by relatives. Friday night was spaghetti & meatballs or shrimp over linguini. My friend and I ordered one of each and shared. Before hand there is a salad and bread (included) and afterward a choice of dessert (extra). I had the amazingly delicious amaretto bread pudding and my friend opted for ice box cake. Altogether a lovely evening with tasty food, great service and excellent conversation. The Facebook page for the restaurant is here.
Pagliacci Pizza, Edmonds
So the plan was to have my meeting and then walk around the charming city of Edmonds, snapping photos of the lovely murals and sculptures and whatever. But that plan was foiled when it started raining really, really hard and then sleeting! Fine. On the way out of town I stopped at perhaps my favorite pizza chain, Pagliacci at 10200 Edmonds Way. This Pagliacci is in a new building, I assume designed for them. It’s really nice looking, great angles and lots of light. The staff was friendly. After I paid for my large Margaretta Pizza, I checked in with Four Square. My phone happily chirped at me that because I checked in I deserve free bread sticks! So I danced back to the counter and showed them my phone and they said “of course”. Now that is customer service!
Just as well that I got the free bread sticks because the drive home to Tacoma was awful, pouring rain and so much sleet or hail that it seemed like there was a slippery inch of it on the highway! Crazy. The delicious bread sticks filled my belly and helped me resist trying to take a slice of pizza out of the box 😉
When I went to the University Pigliacci (the original one) last June, the chain had 22 locations and now they have 24. None in Pierce County though.
And for a joyous moment watch this video of workers tossing pies!
Round Table Pizza
Bahama Breeze
Thursday night I met an old friend at Bahama Breeze, a tropical themed restaurant at 15700 Southcenter Pkwy, Tukwila, WA 98188. There are 30+ locations of the restaurant, but this is the only one on the West Coast. The food was very tasty and it was so nice to be able to catch up with my friend 😀
Masa
On Friday afternoon, I stopped at Masa at 2811 Sixth Avenue for a happy hour with some friends. It was an excellent way to start the weekend 😀
Satellite Coffee is houses in the same space. I had stopped in there in January 2011.
Bulgogi at Nana Wok and Teriyaki
My friend, Carrie, was raving about the Bulgogi at Nana Wok and Teriyaki at 11416 Canyon Road in the Summit area of unincorporated Pierce County. Since I hadn’t heard of Bulgogi before I was intrigued and today dear husband and I went to check it out. In case you don’t know, per Wikipedia Bulgogi “is a Korean dish that usually consists of grilled marinated beef, chicken or pork. It is listed at number 23 on World’s 50 most delicious foods readers’ poll compiled by CNN Go in 2011.”

It arrived at our table sizzling and really was tasty. Our mistake was that we each ordered a meal and we could have easily shared. But the good news is that there are leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. 😀
Adriatic Grill
We had a lovely luncheon today at the Adriatic Grill at 4201 South Steele Street. I must have been having a good time because I forgot to take a good shot of the interior! But here is a photo of the table decorations and below a shot of the entrance that my daughter took out the car window! I remember when the space was occupied by one of Cucina Cucina’s twelve restaurant. The chain only has one remaining location in Issaquah.
