There is a huge tower at 948 S. Grant, Tacoma. It is FCC
registered. I’d like to say something about it, but I have
nothing 🙂
The industrial property at 3829 South M Street, Tacoma, is available for sale with an asking price of $390,000 (will look at offers). The vacant building has 6,200 square feet and was built in 1948. It was originally owner occupied as Rygg’s Automotive Service and most recently was occupied by Transco Auto Services.
DeLong’s DeLuxe at 8901 Bridgeport Way is Lakewood’s newest burger joint. It opened in February 2013. I stopped in today after a meeting and ordered a fair burger, fries and two milkshakes. The shakes were delicious and I had to throw the fries in the backseat of the car so that dear daughter would actually get some. Service was speedy and pleasant.
My work friend told me that Ezell’s had a righteous special on Mondays. Indeed they do, two large piece and a roll for about $1.40. It was a wonderful meal, especially for that price! I splurged and bought a piece of sweet potato pie. Ezell’s location in Tacoma is at 1902 Martin Luther King Jr Way.
Ezell‘s started in Seattle in 1984 and currently has seven Western Washington locations. Recent news states that franchises are now being sold including one in Dubai. In August 2012, Esquire Magazine declared Ezell’s to be “the Most Life-Changing Fried Chicken in America.”
The Proctor District is really pleasant to stroll around and the addition of Proctor Frozen Yogurt at 2510 North Proctor makes it even better. I ended up combing the lemon with the raspberry/pomegranate and dear daughter has the marshmallow. They were both a treat. The business is housed in what had been a house built in 1905.
North End Community Church at 3502 N Mullen St, Tacoma, WA 98407 is charming. It was built in 1928 as the Grace Baptist Church. There is a Grace Baptist Church on Vassault now, so maybe the original church moved. The website of North End Community Church is here.
The vacant building at 4638 South Yakima had most recently been Superior TV with a living unit upstairs, but its been vacant for a while. A 1977 photo of the property shows it occupied by Superior TV, so they had a pretty long time in the space, most likely repairing the tube TVs that use to be popular.
The building was originally built as Goodwin Drug Store in 1923 and Wm. Seese was the builder.
When dear husband and I first moved to Tacoma we rented a house right across the street from Jane Clark Park at 4825 N. 39th St., Tacoma, WA 98407. The two of us moved into the house with our two cats and chow dog. We placed our purple camel back couch up against the living room window which had a great view of the above park building. Once a week the park district would offer a dog obedience class and our chow would belly up to the back of the couch and watch like it was a movie made just for her!
Jane Clark Park had its origins in 1935 when the land was purchased in a tax sale. Benjamin L. Harvey provided financial assistance to the park and the park was named in honor of his mother. The park’s amenities include Baseball Field/Softball Field Regulation Lighted,Basketball Court Half Court, Playground, Restrooms, Trails and a summertime Wading Pool.
