Jamba Juice in the Tacoma Mall is really pretty good and relatively healthy. Dear daughter and I stopped this afternoon. She had a strawberry banana drink and I had the Aloha Pineapple drink. It was our first time to visit any Jamba Juice, but apparently there are another 800+ locations we could investigate in 26 states. The chain began in 1990 and has gone through several changes over the years.

Coffee Cove
Coffee Cove is a coffee kiosk at 4918 Center St, Tacoma, WA 98409. I was coming home in the pouring rain after a Saturday conference and desperately wanted something warm to drink. I skipped the nearby Starbucks and tried out the independent. My decaf Americano was really tasty and the service was cheerful and quick.
Memos Mexican Food Restaurant
Memos Mexican Food Restaurant at 1703 6th Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405 is the newest Memos location. Previously it had been It’s Great to Me and they have moved across the street. Dear husband and I shared a fish taco and a Washington Burrito (steak, cheese, salsa and potato). It was more food than we could eat and really tasty. With a churro dessert, the bill came to just over $10. Their menu is here.
Best Burgers
Best Burgers at 7714 Custer Road in Lakewood is a mom & pop hamburger stand that has been around for a long time. It opened in August 1990 by a couple with the last name of best. They are well know for their friendly service and I enjoyed my cheeseburger and fries a great deal. And my dogs enjoyed the leftovers! Their Facebook Page is here.
Infinate Soups
Infinite Soups at 445 Tacoma Avenue South is one of those tiny Tacoma treasures that would be easy to miss. I lucked out on Friday and there was a parking spot nearby and many of the soups were available. They only sell soup and rolls/crackers, but they have a wonderful soup selection (19 today). I had a creamy, chicken soup to go, which is the only way to get it. Infinite Soups will be opening up a second location in the old post office building sometime soon. Look for the large hanging spoon or their neighbors Malarkey’s Pool & Brew to find them! Their Facebook Page, with the daily soups, can be found here.
Mondo Burrito at Taco Del Mar
Dear husband and I shared a mondo chicken burrito for dinner. It came from Taco Del Mar at2700 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. The first Taco Del Mar opened in Seattle in 1992. Taco Del Mar’s website is here.
Red Horse Diner, Ellensburg, WA
We stopped at the Red Horse Diner because of it is a 50s style diner, but we loved it for its food! Dear daughter and I stopped for a meal here on the way to dropping her off at college and I stopped on my way back alone. It had been a service station and maintains the original pumps, as well as a bunch of fun 50s signs and paraphernalia. The Pegasus, the red horse, has been the symbol of Mobil Oil since the 1930s. The website for the diner is here.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt
My friend and I share the same birthday (which was in May, we are running late!) and we decided to treat ourselves at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in Jame’s Center 1816 South Mildred Street, Tacoma. There are 14 flavors and plenty of toppings. Their Facebook Page is here.
What is interesting to me is that the South Hill Menchie was my new place in April 2012. At that time they had 170 locations and now they have 237. In April 2012 Washington State had seven locations and now they have 19 with three more in the works.
Cafe Elite for an Orangesicle Smoothie
While other folks were heading out to happy hour on a warm Friday afternoon, I went to Cafe Elite at 4401 S 19th St, Tacoma, WA for a couple of Orangesicle Smoothies for dear daughter and me. They were delicious! Last year I went to visit the Cafe Elite in Lakewood.
